eBiodiversity

The aim of the eBiodiversity portal is to display information on Estonian wildlife in one place.

The user can find answers to questions such as what species of plants, animals or fungi have been discovered in Estonia, what their scientific and proper names are, where they are found in Estonia, what publications have published information about one or another species, and much more.

There are probably more than 30 000 species of organisms in Estonia. They are recorded by a wide range of institutions and individuals, from scientists to students. As a result, information on Estonian wildlife is scattered in hundreds of manuscripts, publications and databases.

A number of foreign researchers and stakeholders have also made their data available through the portal. Those who keep their databases in the PlutoF cloud need only click a button to make their dataset visible on the eBiodiversity Portal.

The portal's wider purpose is to enable a wide range of wildlife analyses. It can be used to find out about the inventory of known species in an area, a nature reserve or a property, where they are found and how they are changing, as well as how a species looks in the wild, in a scientific collection or under the microscope.
