Ticket and service fees to increase from 1 March

Prices for tickets and services at the University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden will increase from 1 March. Fees for educational and children's programmes will remain the same. The Botanical Garden's open-air collections will continue to be free of charge throughout the year during opening hours for anyone interested.

The price of a full ticket to the University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden will increase by €2: from €8 to €10 at the museum and from €3 to €5 at the Botanical Garden. The discount ticket for pupils, students, pensioners, ISIC and ITIC card holders and Estonian military servicemen will increase by one euro, starting from 1 March to €5 at the Natural History Museum and €3 at the Botanical Garden. A family ticket for up to two adults and all children under 18 will cost €20 at the Natural History Museum and €10 at the Botanical Gardens, up from €16 and €8 respectively.

In addition to the gift vouchers, which are appreciated by visitors and can be given to friends and family to visit the Natural Museum and Botanical Garden and create pleasant emotions, five and 10-euro gift vouchers will also be available. The current €3 gift card will remain valid, but the €2 and €4 gift cards will no longer be on sale from 1 March. All gift vouchers purchased so far will be valid and can be used until their expiry date.

There will also be a €5 increase in the price of guided tours of both the Natural History Museum and the Botanical Gardens. In the Botanical Gardens, the price of a guided tour in Finnish, English or German will remain the same as before. As usual, tickets will be added to the guide service. A guided tour of a museum or botanical garden lasts about an hour, but longer tours can be arranged by appointment. Prices for all educational and children's programmes remain the same.

The University of Tartu Natural History Museum's ticket and service prices last increased on 1 May 2019, and the Botanical Garden's service prices increased in 2017.

The Botanic Garden's open-air collections are open free of charge to all year-round visitors, more than 100 000 of whom visit the garden each year. Ticketed visits to the collections in the greenhouse help the Botanic Garden offset the energy costs of growing and exhibiting warm-season plants. It was mainly the significant increase in electricity and heating costs that led us to a situation where the prices of tickets and services needed to be reviewed and adjusted in line with the expenses increase.

Head of the University of Tartu Botanical Garden Jüri Sild

Prices quoted in a previously issued price quotation remain valid. Persons who are entitled to free admission to the University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden based on the price list will continue to be able to visit the museum free of charge upon presentation of the relevant certificate.
