This is the eighth edition of the Wild City photo competition, part of the Nature Festival programme. The 2023 Nature Festival will focus on public and private gardens and their treasures, especially natural biodiversity. Submit your photos between 27 March and 7 May.
The "Wild City" photo competition, which has become a tradition, invites you to discover nature and brings you a selection of wildlife images in the city. As an excellent way to observe nature in spring, we encourage participants to attend the urban core through the camera's eye. Entries can be submitted from 27 March to 7 May on the competition website.
The competition will be divided into three categories: children and young people (up to 15 years old and up), adults (16 years old and over) and nature observation (13 years old and above). In the nature observation category, the artistic quality of the photographs submitted will not be assessed by the jury. Still, the suitability of the photographs as evidence for nature observation will be considered. A special prize will be drawn from the eligible entries.
Entries will be judged by a jury of six members, including Piret Eensoo, Rene Jakobson, Kaisa Keizars-Aron, Ingmar Muusikus, Kerttu Taggo and Urmas Tartes. The winners will be announced on the first day of the Nature Festival, 7 June, at the University of Tartu Botanical Garden. A gallery of the 20 best entries will be exposed in the University of Tartu Botanical Garden, where it will be on display until the end of the summer.
The sponsors of this year's competition have created an array of exciting prizes for everyone to enjoy. The gift bag has been contributed by: Photopoint, Fotografiska, Teater Vanemuine, Viru Folk, Eesti Loodusfoto, Salibar, Maheseemned.ee, Ajakiri Looduses, Huggy, Natty, MTÜ Loodusajakiri, Kommipomm, RMK, Tallinn Zoo, Pernova Nature House, Wösel, Loodusemees, Kino Sõprus, Estonian Fund for Nature, Pesapaik, Kadarbiku and the University of Tartu Natural Museum and Botanical Garden.
