More than 10 000 nature observations were made in a 24-hour period during the Nature Observation Marathon
During the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 Arts of Survival Creative Nature Festival on 8-9 June, over 10,300 nature observations were recorded within 24 hours. All observations, except those of strictly protected species, can be viewed on the eDiversity data portal managed by the University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden.

On Friday, June 28th, the international technological art exhibition "Enter Woodland Spirits" will open as part of the main program of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024. The exhibition aims to bring folk tales to life and make the spirituality of nature tangible. It will take place in two neighbouring buildings: the Estonian Literature Museum and the University of Tartu Natural History Museum.

In response to the current environmental crisis, the exhibition “Veil of Nature” by Luxembourgish artist Justine Blau, curated by Fanny Weinquin, explores, through works navigating between documentation, illusion and narration, man’s relationship with nature and conservation practices. Guided tours of the exhibition “Veil of Nature” will take place every Saturday from June 22nd to July 20th and on the last day of the exhibition, July 28th.
