The University of Tartu Botanical Garden is looking forward to participating in the orchid competition taking place in about a month! The competition will take place as part of the orchid exhibition taking place from 28 February to 9 March and everyone who has an interesting orchid blooming at home is welcome to participate. The prerequisite is, of course, that the plant has bloomed under the care of a home gardener.

To participate in the competition, send a picture of your orchid with a description to ingrid.akkermann@ut.ee. Since the number of places in the competition is limited, we will inform all senders whether their plant has been selected to participate in the orchid competition. We are waiting for the plants to be exhibited in the competition at the University of Tartu Botanical Garden (Lai tn 38, Tartu) on 25–27 February.

The top three in the orchid competition will be determined as a result of a public vote – all visitors to the orchid exhibition will have the opportunity to evaluate the plants and choose their favorite. The University of Tartu Botanical Garden will award the winner a well-deserved prize – a magnificent orchid plant! In addition, the second and third place winners will be awarded. All participants in the competition will receive a free annual pass to the greenhouses of the University of Tartu Botanical Garden. We will also draw one annual pass among all voters.

Voting is open until the evening of March 7. The award ceremony will take place on March 9 at 12 noon. After the award ceremony, the competition participants will be given an excursion. One participant can take part in the competition with up to two plants. The competition is supported by Ecoshop.
