Exhibition of Tõnu Tamm's Orchid Paintings at the University of Tartu Botanical Garden

The exhibition of Tõnu Tamm's orchid paintings will be open in the classroom of the University of Tartu Botanical Garden until April 20th.

Seventeen paintings of orchids are displayed on the walls of the University of Tartu Botanical Garden's classroom. The paintings depict both native orchids found in Estonia, such as the lesser twayblade, fly orchid, lesser butterfly-orchid, fen orchid, and lady's slipper, as well as orchids from the near tropics and tropics, including the lady's slipper and moon orchid.

Tõnu Tamm (1942-2021) was an Estonian actor and artist who worked as an actor at the Estonian Theatre for Young Audiences, Drama Theatre, Puppet Theatre, and as a director at the Estonian National Opera. He had a keen interest in painting and nature, particularly orchids. Tõnu Tamm was also a member of the Estonian Orchid Conservation Club. His painting teacher was the artist Edgar Valter. Tõnu Tamm's orchid paintings have been exhibited not only in Estonia but also in Finland, the USA, Canada, and Australia.

The exhibition of Tõnu Tamm's orchid paintings is open for viewing in the classroom of the University of Tartu Botanical Garden until April 20th.

The exhibition can be visited during the opening hours of the greenhouse with a ticket to the botanical garden.
