Europe’s biodiversity continues to decline at an alarming rate, with most protected species and habitats confronting poor conservation status. Facing the pressure, it is important to understand and model the forces and processes shaping biodiversity with novel tools and methods for knowledge-based and integrated management of natural resources, opening new horizons for science, policymaking and implementation.
Tartu 2024 full programme to be revealed today
The full programme of Tartu 2024 is announced on 19 October, exactly one hundred days before the beginning of the year of the European Capital of Culture. The University of Tartu supports the activities of the Capital of Culture and the programme includes various events organised by the university.
Opening hours over the Midsummer holidays
The Natural History Museum will open on 22.6 from 10 am to 3 pm and close on 23.-24.6. The Botanical Garden will be open during the holidays at normal hours. Happy Midsummer!
Open letter to the leaders of the European Union
Natural Science Institutes from Europe sent a letter to ministers and MEPs asking them to stand up for nature. The University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden also signed the letter, represented by Director Urmas Kõljalg.
